Paper is transformed into breathtaking sculpture, large-scale installations and conceptual works that express contemporary social, political, and aesthetic ideas. Visionary master folders-such as Erik Demaine and Martin Demaine (Canada/USA), Vincent Floderer (France), Miri Golan (Israel), Paul Jackson (UK/Israel), Dr. Robert J. Lang (USA), Sipho Mabona (Switzerland/South Africa), Yuko Nishimura (Japan), and Richard Sweeney (UK)-push the boundaries of paper as a medium for creating bold and sophisticated works. The exhibition celebrates these artists who are redefining a traditional Japanese craft as a modern global genre and inventing unexpected forms of artistic expression.

Regular admission is $20 for adults; $15 for those 65 and older, Florida educators, college students, and active duty military; and $10 for students 7 and older. Children under 7 and Museum members are admitted free. Groups of 10 or more adults pay only $14 per person and children $4 each with prior reservations. Also, admission is only $10 after 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Suor Angelica & Gianni Schicchi

Info: Two Puccini one-act operas make for a fabulous night of singing, drama, and antics!  In the tragedy Suor Angelica, a nun must face the truth about her past and confront her judgemental aunt who has arrived at the convent for purposes of her own. In Gianni Schicchi, the Donati Family really puts the fun in dysfunctional as they squabble over the inheritance from Cousin Buoso. This tournament will feature 4 on 4 water polo, 3 field players and a goalie, and will be played on the intracoastal waterway at the Clearwater Community Sailing Center in Clearwater, Florida. Teams can expect to play 4-5 games over the course of the 2 days and will play using FINA Beach Water Polo Rules.

Magritte and Dali is a first-of-its-kind special exhibition dedicated to the world’s two most celebrated surrealists, Rene Magritte and Salvador Dali. Viewers will be taken on a journey from the late 1920 to the early 1940s, the period when the two artists spent significant time together and displayed their works in the same Surrealist exhibitions. Although both had very different approaches to their respective paintings, they were equally committed to implementing practices that challenged reality and generated fuller freedom of imagination and experience. Their works also employ several shared themes, which are explored throughout the exhibit.

Theo Wujcik: Cantos Exhibition at Museum of Fine Arts St. Pete

Info: One of Tampa Bay’s best-known artists, Theo Wujcik (1936-2014), spent a decade creating a series drawn from the dark and profound literary classic, Dante’s Inferno. Now, those extraordinary paintings are the theme for Theo Wujcik: Cantos, a special exhibition organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg. This exhibition celebrates the work of Theo Wujcik (1936–2014), with a focus on the literary references in his work.

Friday Nights at the St. Pete Shuffleboard Club
