A Feast for the Eyes Exhibition at Museum of Fine Arts St. Pete

Info:Dreamy landscapes and luscious still life paintings from one of the world’s greatest private collections join together in A Feast for the Eyes: European Masterpieces from the Grasset Collection. This stunning exhibition will be on display at the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Pete from March 23 through July 28, 2019. The exhibition features 40 of the finest Old Master paintings by artists from the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Germany -including Jan Brueghel the Elder and Canaletto, one of the greatest view painters of all time represented here with an iconic view of Venice.The works span from 1600 to 1750. The collection is on loan from the Grasset family of Spain, whose patriarch assembled this group of masterpieces.

Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score (not to mention puppets), Avenue Q is a laugh-out-loud musical and a truly unique show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere. The show is happening at the Central Park Performing Arts Center in Largo and starts at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Suor Angelica & Gianni Schicchi

Info: Two Puccini one-act operas make for a fabulous night of singing, drama, and antics!  In the tragedy Suor Angelica, a nun must face the truth about her past and confront her judgemental aunt who has arrived at the convent for purposes of her own. In Gianni Schicchi, the Donati Family really puts the fun in dysfunctional as they squabble over the inheritance from Cousin Buoso. Ultimately they hire a crooked lawyer to rewrite the will, but the outcome is not what they expected. Performances at The Palladium Theater on select dates between May 17 – 21. Tampa Bay Rowdies Soccer – Rowdies vs. New York Red Bulls II, 7:30 p.m.

USA Water Polo Clearwater Beach Challenge

Info: USA Water Polo is proud to announce a brand new event, the Clearwater Beach Challenge! This tournament will feature 4 on 4 water polo, 3 field players and a goalie, and will be played on the intracoastal waterway at the Clearwater Community Sailing Center in Clearwater, Florida. Teams can expect to play 4-5 games over the course of the 2 days and will play using FINA Beach Water Polo Rules.

Magritte and Dali

Magritte and Dali is a first-of-its-kind special exhibition dedicated to the world’s two most celebrated surrealists, Rene Magritte and Salvador Dali. Viewers will be taken on a journey from the late 1920 to the early 1940s, the period when the two artists spent significant time together and displayed their works in the same Surrealist exhibitions. Although both had very different approaches to their respective paintings, they were equally committed to implementing practices that challenged reality and generated fuller freedom of imagination and experience. Their works also employ several shared themes, which are explored throughout the exhibit.

Theo Wujcik: Cantos Exhibition at Museum of Fine Arts St. Pete

Info: One of Tampa Bay’s best-known artists, Theo Wujcik (1936-2014), spent a decade creating a series drawn from the dark and profound literary classic, Dante’s Inferno. Now, those extraordinary paintings are the theme for Theo Wujcik: Cantos, a special exhibition organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg. This exhibition celebrates the work of Theo Wujcik (1936–2014), with a focus on the literary references in his work.

Friday Nights at the St. Pete Shuffleboard Club
It’s not just for the older generation anymore! Join the fun at the world’s largest shuffleboard club to see why this pastime has regained its popularity in the Sunshine City. Free every Friday night from 7-11 p.m., locals and visitors alike flock to this private recreational club. If you’re not sure how to play, have no fear as volunteers are on hand to give you a lesson or two. Bring your own snacks and beverages – local craft beers tend to be a popular choice.
